Head Start for Puppies Workshop (1 session)
This one session workshop is designed for the puppy owner who
wants to get a head start on training while waiting to join a class.
Learn about the stages of puppy development, what to expect, and
how to begin training your pup.  Get started on some basic
relationship-building with your pup that will help him understand the
rules of your house -- and keep everyone happy.

    Kindergarten (5 weeks)
For puppies who are 10 weeks to 5 months old at start of class.  Do not
wait until your puppy is 6 months old to start formal training.  The
window of opportunity for socialization is very small.  Your puppy must
be socialized by 3 months of age.  What do we mean? For starters your
puppy should meet at least 100 new people before he turns 3 months
    old!

    Topics include:

  • Introduction to basic skills such as; name response, come, sit,
down, stay, watch me, and walking on leash.

  • Emphasis on socialization and behavior issues such as mouthing,
chewing, jumping, barking, crating, potty training,  appropriate
play and exercise and aggression prevention.

  • Fun and safe obstacle course to build puppy's confidence and
    have fun!

  • Interaction with new people, strange noises, and quick
    movement.

  • Good manners at the vet and groomer. Teach your puppy to
accept being handled and restrained.  Puppies need to learn to
accept being examined and touched all over.

    Elementary School (7 weeks)
For dogs who are 5 months or older at start of class and who need to
learn or brush up on the basics such as:
