In Memory of Jake
April 4, 2006

Jake passed away Saturday, 4/8/2006.

I want to thank everyone who has helped me
with Jake through the years, and taken the
time to get to know him. He could not have
gotten this far without the knowledge and
friendship of all of you. I am glad I was able
to be with him and that he was able to die
peacefully, without fear.

Please keep my Jake in your hearts. Let us all
learn from him: bravery, strength, loyalty, and
true friendship. He was a one of a kind. The
mold was broken Saturday at 5:45 am, with his
last heartbeat. -                                -Kristen
The Connecticut Veterinary Medical
Association (CVMA) presented its first
annual Pet of the Year award to “Jake”, a
15-year-old Rottweiler-Labrador Retriever
cross whose own battle with melanoma has
helped spur the development of significant
new vaccines to treat this aggressive cancer
in both dogs and people.
