Holiday Greetings 2005

Yes, Sherry, Nova (your # 462, as I recall; my birthday is 4/26 and I think that was a connection for the
numerology folks to ponder) is the senior Golden from the Htfd pound and is the one lying on the ground,
smiling really big.  We will be celebrating his first anniversary with us on 12/29.  He has proven to be
healthy, happy, and extremely well-adjusted to life with us here in Canton.  He's snoring next to me as I
write this note.  Simple guy, simple needs, and easy to please.  Looks so peaceful, always.  Best Christmas
    present I ever got...

Nova lives on our walk-out lower level, out in the yard in good weather during part of the day when we are
home to monitor him (one of us is usually home most of the time since we both work from home) on a 75
foot horse lead and harness so he doesn't wander, and he just loves being outdoors in the sunshine (we
have 5 acres of yard, field, brook, gardens, forest, etc; I swear he must think he died and went to heaven,
just like I feel sometimes when I marvel that this is actually our home - we have been here 2 years now).
Nova also loves the snow, never caring that it is cold, gulps it down and actually stretches out in it...

I wrote a song for him and sing it with acoustic guitar accompaniment, which seems to please him; simple
lyrics but soothing to me I guess:

    Nova Boy, you're the one
Smiling in the face of the sun
Didn't know where you'd been found
    When we got you
    From the Hartford dog pound

    Nova Boy, you're home
    No more need to roam
    No more wanderin' the streets
    Wondering where you will eat
    Or when

    Nova Boy, little one
    Happy boy, lucky one
You knew we wouldn't be mean
    When you adopted us
    Sight unseen

    Nova Boy, don't cry
    Let me take those tears
    And wipe them dry
    You're safe and sound today
    Here with us to stay
    Forever

    Nova Boy, you're the one
Laughing in the warmth of the sun
    Nova Boy, Nova Boy
    Nova Boy!

Sherry, you are the only person other than my wife Mair who knows about the song.  Hope it helped you
understand how special Nova is in our family...  Now that I wrote it out, I am copying this note to Karen
    Moulton also...

    Take care,

    Doug
